NEHS recognizes the extraordinary efforts of our teachers, who often use into their own financial resources to support their students. However, with the increasing number of students in need, individual efforts can only go so far. The NEHS Student Support Fund steps in to fill this critical gap, guaranteeing that financial aid is available to those students who need it most.
The statistics are clear: Economically disadvantaged students are five times more likely to drop out of high school compared to their peers. Many of those students leave school to support their families. Those who remain in school often struggle to afford basic necessities like class materials, appropriate clothing for bad weather, and adequate food. This is where the NEHS Student Support Fund makes a difference, providing support to help students stay in school and succeed.
The NEHS Student Support Fund offers financial aid to address significant individual needs. This support can be used for purchasing essential classroom materials, textbooks, backpacks, clothing, and food supplies. Our goal is to remove the obstacles that hinder students’ academic progress, enabling them to focus on their studies and reach their full potential.
Apply for funds
Chapter Advisors are invited to apply for up to $100 in funding for an economically disadvantaged student. Advisors must provide evidence that the funds have been used effectively to support the student’s needs. While we strive to help as many students as possible, we ask that applications prioritize those in greatest need.
Sustaining the Student Support Fund
NEHS is committed to kickstarting the Student Support Fund, but we need your help to ensure its longevity and impact. We are calling on NEHS chapters to join us in fundraising efforts. NEHS will match every dollar donated by chapters, doubling the impact of your contributions and helping to build a robust fund that can support as many students in need as possible.
