English Honor Societies student members and Chapter Advisors are invited to a special conversation webinar with Bonnie Garmus, the New York Times bestselling author of Lessons in Chemistry, on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 4 p.m. (PT) / 5 p.m. (MT) / 6 p.m. (CT) / 7 p.m. (ET).
This free webinar is expected to fill quickly—and for good reason. Garmus’ novel blends sharp wit, bold ideas, and an unforgettable heroine to challenge 1950s norms around gender, science, and power. In this webinar, she’ll take us behind the scenes of how Lessons in Chemistry came to life, exploring how the story champions resilience, questions societal expectations, and celebrates women forging their own paths.
Students and Advisors will hear directly from Garmus about her creative process, the characters readers have come to admire, and the ways fiction can inspire curiosity, confidence, and change. Attendees can submit questions for Garmus during registration for the event.
Bonnie Garmus is the author of the bestselling debut novel Lessons in Chemistry, a global hit translated into over 40 languages and adapted into an Apple TV+ series starring Brie Larson. The novel earned widespread acclaim for its wit and originality and won numerous honors including Waterstones Author of the Year and the British Book Awards Author of the Year. Before becoming a novelist, Garmus worked as a copywriter and creative director. Originally from Seattle, she now lives in the UK and is also an avid open-water swimmer and rower.
