NEHS is proud to announce the launch of the Hebestreit Award for Adventure Writing, a tribute to the late David “Dave” Hebestreit (1971 – 2024). As a long-standing member of the NEHS Advisory Council, Dave was a fervent advocate for student writing and believed deeply in the transformative power of storytelling. His passion for literature, education, and adventure profoundly influenced the NEHS community.
Established to honor Dave’s legacy, the Hebestreit Award encourages NEHS student members and Chapter Advisors to share narratives of personal adventures that have significantly shaped their worldview. These adventures, whether brief or extensive, local or global, serve as a testament to the spirit of exploration and learning that Dave championed.
