NEHS 2026 Convention

From March 29 to April 1, 2026, the National English Honor Society will visit the vibrant and historic city of New Orleans, LA, for its Annual Convention—a high-energy, creativity-packed celebration for students who live and breathe literature, writing, and the power of language.

This isn’t just an international academic convention, it’s a literary adventure. Picture yourself diving into thought-provoking discussions on compelling literary topics alongside other NEHS students. Be inspired by keynote speakers like two-time National Book Award-winner Jesmyn Ward and New York Times Bestselling Author Aimee Nezhukumatathil who will share their personal journeys and offer invaluable insight to the next generation of readers and writers.

The convention offers interactive workshops designed for all kinds of literary interests—whether you’re into poetry, fiction, nonfiction, film, or literary analysis. These sessions go beyond listening—you’ll create, collaborate, and walk away with new skills and ideas, and lots more confidence.

Don’t miss your chance to shine! The Convention Presentation Award gives NEHS members a national spotlight and a fully funded opportunity (for two students and a Chapter Advisor from each chapter) to present their work in New Orleans. Applications open in September 2025—start thinking about the key texts, Jesmyn Ward’s Salvage the Bones and Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof now.

But it’s not all pens and paper! Between sessions, you’ll be able to soak up world-famous music, sample unforgettable cuisine, and celebrate in a city that vibrates with culture and creativity. With social events, local adventures, and literary magic around every corner, this convention will be one that is remembered for a long time.

For NEHS students and Chapter Advisors, the 2026 Convention is where connection meets inspiration. We hope to see you in New Orleans!
